When describing Nostrum to newbies I somewhat optimistically call it ¨healthy fast food¨. I have nothing to back up the ¨healthy¨ label it´s purely based on hope. BUT it is fast and freshly cooked to boot.

Salads range from 2-4€ as do their pasta and rice dishes. You can grab a meat dish such as Pollo con pisto (chicken with ratatouille), baked salmon or meatballs all for €6. They offer discounts of up to 50% for fan club members but you need to be a resident to sign up.

As each dish is separately vacuum packed you can mix and match til your heart’s content and only have yourself to blame for creating anything less than amazing! They are even packaged in such a way that you could throw a couple in your bag before heading out on a picnic to Barceloneta, Montjuic or any other of the cities beautiful spots for lazing about.

You can take a seat in most stores and even reheat your food in the provided microwave. They also sell a number of non-perishable pantry items like jars of olives, dressings and sweets.

There are dozens of franchise style stores scattered about the city (too many to list!) and you can find their exact whereabouts on the website. Some stores are open as early as 8AM and close as late as 11pm, but it is all subject to the particular store.

Becky Robinson
Hola! My name is Becky. I´m yet another Australian expat who fell for the beautiful mistress we like to call Barcelona and stayed far, far longer than once intended. I throw myself into the cities events, bars, clubs, shops etc, with reckless abandon to bring you these reviews. It´s all for you! ...Or is it just an excuse to party and spend lots of money without feeling guilty?... Either way, read up on some of my favorite ways to see this exciting and eclectic city. Happy travels and welcome to BCN!
