El Ciclista or ¨the bicycle¨ is a small and trendy bar in the Gracia region. They have weekly entertainment; from live music to the reading of monologues.

On the night that I went here, there were about 60 people inside…with space for about 40 people. It was very crowded and as I made my way to the bar I had to deal with some hands here and there. Nether the less, everyone was friendly enough or too tipsey to care.

The décor is made of recycled bicycle parts- a hipsters heaven. Wheel spokes hoist fishbowl glasses from the ceiling and something was operating on a pulley system of pedals and gears (I couldn’t quite see because of the previously mentioned crowd).

It seems with every city in the world, there is this ongoing struggle between live music venues and inner city residents, unfortunately Barcelona is not different. Thankfully places like El Ciclista are committed to the fight.

It would be the perfect place to end a day of sightseeing in a city perfectly equipped for visiting on a bike. Give your muscles a stretch and pedal your way through the alleyways of Gracia for an intimate evening of live music at El Ciclista amongst locals.

Hola! My name is Becky. I´m yet another Australian expat who fell for the beautiful mistress we like to call Barcelona and stayed far, far longer than once intended. I throw myself into the cities events, bars, clubs, shops etc, with reckless abandon to bring you these reviews. It´s all for you! ...Or is it just an excuse to party and spend lots of money without feeling guilty?... Either way, read up on some of my favorite ways to see this exciting and eclectic city. Happy travels and welcome to BCN!
