Restaurant La Llesca is another typical Catalan restaurant. Actually, we don’t call it restaurant but tavern, similar to an English pub, where regional food is served. The entrance doesn’t look very enticing but you will see people waiting outside to eat.

There are basically locals as the place is not in the centre. However, it’s just a couple of stops from Plaça Catalunya by underground (L3 Fontana). It’s located in the quarter of Gracia, where you can observe a fresh and alternative Catalan atmosphere.

As soon as you step inside, you will smell meat being cooked and start to starve. All kinds of meat and vegetables are cooked in this original coal grill: beef, veal, pork, chicken and rabbit as well as artichokes and potatoes. I like everything but I would recommend you botifarra (long pork sausage, typical from Catalonia), broad beans, artichokes, patates al caliu amb allioli (grilled potatoes with garlic mayonnaise) or a toasted bread with the topping you want. In case you don’t order the last one, go for some plain toasted bread and eat like a Catalan: spread a little of garlic along the toast, do the same with some tomato, add olive oil and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Enjoy your meal!

The place gets crowded and sometimes a bit noisy but the decoration makes you feel cosy. It’s a very traditional Catalan place with ceramic tiles and old pictures on the walls. Furniture is old and it’s curious to see lots of old radios in the dining room.

Eva Verges
Hello, there! I’m Eva. I’m 33 years old and happy to live in Barcelona, where I was born. Enthusiastic, dynamic, open-minded, friendly and patient. I have always had itchy feet and enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. Eager to learn more and more every day and embark on new adventures for treasure hunts. A Barcelona lover who becomes homesick when is far from her charming city for a long period of time. I like mingling with the melting pot, getting lost in the narrowest medieval streets of the Gothic quarter and smelling the aroma of countless enticing cafés. Its eclectic non-stop style doesn’t let you stay at home. An excellent hostess and tour guide.
