Bar, restaurant, café, brunch joint, nightclub, apothecary, terrace…is there anything that Ocaña fails to offer??

They say; ¨We are named after José Perez Ocaña: always a freedom defender, was the leading man of a lot of alternative movements (and) the transition in Barcelona in the 1970s¨

If I were pressed to describe this place in just one word it would be non-chalantly-cool. Ok technically that´s probably three words, I cheated…but one word would never suffice!

The clientele are sassy fashionistas, the music perfectly suited and the building is like a stone labrynth, constantly unfolding with new rooms and levels just when you were sure you had the place sussed. A couple of times I have spied locals in Lady Gaga looking attire, haunting the popular terrace with cigarette in hand.

A great place to meet locals and boogie the night away as the DJ´s spin a nice mix of tunes. The staff aren´t as warm and welcoming as in some other establishments but they make a fine cocktail!

I´m yet to sample the food here but I would hope it impresses me as much as everything else it has to offer (although I wouldn´t be at all surprised if it was a bit on the pricey side)!

Becky Robinson
Hola! My name is Becky. I´m yet another Australian expat who fell for the beautiful mistress we like to call Barcelona and stayed far, far longer than once intended. I throw myself into the cities events, bars, clubs, shops etc, with reckless abandon to bring you these reviews. It´s all for you! ...Or is it just an excuse to party and spend lots of money without feeling guilty?... Either way, read up on some of my favorite ways to see this exciting and eclectic city. Happy travels and welcome to BCN!
