I went to Almodo Bar by a feat of chance. During a warm summer night, a few friends and I were walking down the street, minding our own business. Then, out of the nowhere, a group of three beautiful young dames walked right up to us, asking if we wanted to party. We obviously said yes, smiling in complicity between us. So, they gave us a few flyers immediately and told us that we could get in for free with those. Our smiling faces turned to ice-cold poker faces, and we watched them walk up to another group of young males, to pull the same modus operandi. They, too, looked joyful when approached by ladies. Nevertheless, we decided to give the place a chance, since it was just a couple of blocks away. We got there, and it was pretty empty. We thought, “Might as well buy a round of beers before we leave”. So, we went to the bar. I talk to the barmaid, order our drinks, and then I ask her, “When does this place usually fill up?” She responds, “Oh, in a few hours, everyone is upstairs.” I immediately feel a little curious, “What´s happening upstairs?” She smiles and yells into my ear one last word, “Karaoke!” So we went up and spent three hours singing tunes and taking shots, we were definitely a hit with the locals, who laughed and yelled, applauded and whistled, while we went by the way of the song and dance. Even the barmaid enjoyed our act, giving us free shots every now and then. Then, the karaoke died down, and everyone went downstairs, the place was packed, the music was blasting and the night was just beginning.

Hello Everyone! My name is David Picon. I am a cinematographer living in Barcelona. I love this city, it has wonderful sights, beautiful architecture and some great parties, not to mention awesome beaches. I enjoy going out, mostly to jazz and hip-hop clubs, but every once in a while I go in for the electronic venues. Other than that, I am an intense foodie, and a film buff.
