The program of the annual International Festival of Auteur cinema lists more than 50 international independent films. The special, not to be missed bonus this year will be the review of the contemporary cinema from Romania, one of the most prominent and interesting countries in the current independent cinema landscape. Among other films definitely worth your attention are ‘A Long and Happy Life’ by one of the best Russian directors Boris Khlebnikov, ‘Everyday’ by Michael Winterbottom, ‘Laurence Anyways’ by Xavier Dolan, and, of course, a new film of Michael Gondry ‘The We and the I’. The opening film of the festival is ‘Tango Libre’, featuring one of the best tango dancers alive Mariano ‘Chicho’ Frumboli in the role of the Argentine, a prisoner who teaches his fellow prisoners how to dance tango. Should be hot!

The screenings will take place at Cines Aribau, CCCB and Filmoteca. See you there!

Anka
Film scholar and a tango fanatic, I was born in 1983 in the gloomy cold place called Estonia. I first visited Barcelona three years ago. The colors, the sounds, the smells, and the inimitable vibe of the city – it did not take long for Barcelona to put its spell on me! ‘This is a city I want to live in’, a thought kept spinning through my head while I was jostling through the endless flow of crowd at La Rambla. So now its your turn! Do yourself a favor, get on a plane/train/bus/car and let this city do its magics!
